The Rural Water Access Foundation (RUWAF) team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Jigawa State Government House in Dutse, where strategic discussions were held with His Excellency Alhaji Aminu Usman, Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, and His Excellency Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, Deputy Governor of Borno State.
The meeting centered on strengthening partnerships for sustainable water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), climate education, and mother-child survival programs in underserved rural communities across both Jigawa and Borno States.
During the visit, RUWAF's Executive Director, Paul Hassan Mshelbara, highlighted the foundation’s ongoing interventions including:
- Construction and rehabilitation of solar and hand pump boreholes
- Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) initiatives
- Menstrual hygiene education in schools
- Emergency response to WASH-related disasters
- Prevention of GBV and harmful practices like FGM
The Deputy Governors commended RUWAF’s youth-led and community-driven approach to development and expressed their willingness to foster greater collaboration to accelerate impact in rural areas.
This high-level engagement marks a significant step forward in aligning state-level support with RUWAF’s 2024–2030 Strategic Plan, ensuring that no rural community is left behind in accessing safe water, sanitation, and health services.
RUWAF remains committed to building stronger partnerships with government stakeholders as it scales its mission across Northern Nigeria and beyond.
